With “Science for Democracy – We for You,” we want to strengthen evidence-based debates, counter disinformation, and advocate for an open, independent science and education system. To achieve our mission, we are establishing dynamic working groups that address various aspects of promoting science, education, and democracy.

  1. Against disinformation and anti-science sentiment: With its provocative campaign “Wissenschaft braucht doch kein Mensch!?” (Who needs science anyway?), the association aims to stimulate reflection and discussion – nationwide and visibly.
  2. In dialogue with society: What do citizens expect from science? Where are the sticking points and where are new opportunities emerging? The association is seeking dialogue.
  3. For a new strengthening of democratic debate culture: Workshops and materials for schools so that young people learn early on how to check facts, listen—and disagree. It is important to give young people the tools they need for fact-based discussions, critical thinking, and democratic debate early on.
  4. For a resilient science system: The association strengthens dialogue with scientists and professional associations to ensure the independence of research—against politically motivated influence, ideological restrictions, and creeping self-censorship. Developments in other countries show how fragile scientific freedom can be.

We are always looking for committed members with complementary and broad expertise in science, education, politics, and all areas of civil society. Your professional or personal experience, talents, creativity, and desire to make a difference are crucial to enabling our working groups to develop joint projects and innovative solutions quickly and effectively!
